When Shutdown FX picks a graphic effect, it can either pick one at random from the list of currently available fades, or it can cycle through the fades in alphabetical order.  You can control this option with the menu items “Pick fades at random” and “Pick fades sequentially” under the “Options” menu.

This option takes effect immediately.
